“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.” (Isaiah 14:12-15)
Many Bible scholars believe that the above passage of Scripture gives us an insight into the rebellion of Satan (whose name was Lucifer) against God. He, being a created angel, wanted to be God. This was the beginning of a warfare that continues today as we are warned in Ephesians 6:12: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Satan is alive and well and fiercely fighting against the Living God. Twice Jesus called Satan “the prince of this world,” and Paul calls him, “the god of this world.”
In my opinion, nowhere is this battle more obvious than in the homosexual and transgender rights movement; as more than anything else it goes against the essence of God’s power of creation. Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Jesus reiterated these words in stating that a God-ordained marriage is between one man and one woman, “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?” (Matthew 19:4-5
I can hear those words of Satan, “I will be like the most High!” in his orchestrating the same-sex marriage and transgender movement. In what greater way could he usurp the power of God, but by perverting the very nature and order of God’s created beings, those whom He created in His own image; those for whom Jesus Christ shed His blood and died on the cross?
As a Bible-believing Christian and a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I cannot remain silent as I see the tentacles of this perversion spread throughout and destroying the very fabric of our society. Its promoters want to corrupt the very innocence of children in the most precious years of their childhood by coaxing them to discover their sexual orientation starting as young as 5 and 6 years old! There are schools considering encouraging transgender behavior by letting boys use girls’ facilities and vice versa.
Satan will not ultimately prevail in this. The last verse of Isaiah quoted above shows the outcome for him. And those who are deceived by him will one day stand before God in judgment to be cast into “everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”
It is not God’s desire that any should perish in this fashion, “but that all should come to repentance.” He has promised eternal life for all who show “repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”
