ONTARIO — Two entries from Ontario were selected as winners in a statewide art contest run by the Oregon Health Authority.
Each year, OHA holds a state wide art contest to create their problem gambling awareness calendar. This contest is open to all middle-schoolers in Oregon. Lifeways prevention department offers this contest to local schools.
This year, there were more than 80 local entries. From those, five were chosen to go on to the state level.
This year’s local winners were Celeste Esquivel, Veronica Ramos, Natasha DeMaris, Angelica Scott and Cassity McClain.
Angelica, of Treasure Valley Christian School, and Cassity, of Ontario Middle School, were state winners, and as such, their artwork will be included in the Oregon Health Authority’s 2020 Problem Gambling Awareness Calendar, which is distributed statewide. In addition to having their artwork published, each winner received $25 from the state, and more.
