LA GRANDE — The application period for the 2019 Girls In Science program offered by Northeast Oregon Area Health Education Center is now open and closes on Oct. 4.

The program, which will be Oct. 26 at Eastern Oregon University, is open to girls in sixth to eighth grade in eastern Oregon who love all things STEM.

This year’s theme, “Zombie Apocalypse: Is It Actually Possible?, will have students putting their chemistry, biology, math and computer science skills to work to solve an engaging biomedical mystery.

There are only 100 spaces available, and spots are guaranteed for each county in NEOAHEC’s region, which includes Malheur County.
