ONTARIO – The Treasure Valley Stars struggled to get any offense going consistently on Friday night in a 9-1 loss to the visiting Nampa Chiefs in American Legion AA action.

Through seven innings of play, the Stars only managed to get two hits, one by Deano Rodriguez and one by Colton Seal. Nick Esplin drew two walks.

The Stars’ lone run scored came in the bottom of the second inning with Rodriguez scoring on an error.

After two innings of close play, the Chiefs turned a tight 2-1 lead into an 8-1 blowout after scoring six runs in the top of the third inning.

Kodee Bennett started on the mound for the Stars. In three innings, the Payette incoming junior allowed seven hits, eight runs, walked two and struck out three. Treasure Valley Community College incoming sophomore Alex Hall (a New Plymouth alumnus) had a strong performance in the later four innings. He allowed three hits, one run, walked four and struck out four.

In three separate innings, the Stars allowed a run to score after starting the inning getting two outs with no runners on base.
