NYSSA – Two local basketball players will be able to showcase their skills on the hardwood one more time as Nyssa’s Omar Jaquez and Agustin Trujillo will be playing in the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association Summer All-Star Series.

This year’s series is the 47th annual event, and features senior boys from the 2A, 3A and 4A classifications and boys and girls from the 5A and 6A classifications. The games will be held at Northwest Christian University and Wilsonville High School on Friday and Saturday.

The 2A, 3A and 4A teams are split up regionally (East, West, North and South) and the four teams will play a bracketed tournament.

All players for the series were nominated by coaches around the state “based upon the players over all abilities, all league and all state selections” a release from OACA states.

Jaquez (a guard) and Trujillo (forward) were two of the anchors for Nyssa’s boys basketball team this winter. The Bulldogs finished the season with an 18-10 record and won the Eastern Oregon League district championship.
