ONTARIO – With the season over, the Northwest Athletic Conference has named its 2019 All-Stars for both baseball and softball, with a pair of Treasure Valley Community College softball players leading the local honorees.
CJ Davis, a Weiser alumna and Chukar sophomore, was named to the East Region first team as a shortstop. Davis, who walked onto the Chukar softball team after first being recruited for volleyball, led the Chukars with 12 home runs (over twice as many as anyone else on the team). Davis also had a .393 batting average (second on the team), a team-best 750 slugging percentage, had 55 hits and scored 39 runs.
Chukar outfielder Anicia Luna was also named to the all-East Region first team. The sophomore had a .382 batting average with 47 hits, 25 runs scored and 22 RBIs.
Lexi Mulvany, also a TVCC outfielder, was named to the East Region second team. Mulvany, a Vale alumna, had a team-leading 46 runs scored and 20 stolen bases. She also had a .379 batting average with 53 hits and 18 RBIs.
The Chukars closed the 2019 season with a 16-31 (13-19 East) record, just missing out on trip to the NWAC Tournament.
Over on the men’s side, the Chukar baseball team had a couple of players receive honors as well.
Payton Higgins, a sophomore outfielder, was named to the East Region second team and was a East Gold Glove recipient. Higgins had a .265 batting average with 44 hits, 15 RBIs and a team-high 31 runs scored. In 46 games played, Higgin had a .962 fielding percentage.
Chukar infielder Trent Cooper was also a Gold Glove recipient. In 39 games, Cooper had a .941 fielding percentage.
The Chukars finished the season with a 14-33 (8-20 East) record.
