ADRIAN – Adrian and Jordan Valley fans might have to get used to seeing each other on the same sideline for longer as the football teams from the former rivals will continue playing as a co-op team.
The Antelopes are coached by Adrian’s Billy Wortman with Jordan Valley’s Bryce Kershner as the defensive coordinator.
Last fall, the Antelopes finished the season with a 7-4 (4-2 HDL) record and made it to the state quarterfinals before falling to Hosanna Christian.
According to Adrian Athletic Director Aimee Esplin, the co-op between the two teams will continue on a year-by-year basis. If it wasn’t joined with Adrian, Jordan Valley High School is small enough to play six-man football in Oregon.
Harper and Huntington were both members of Oregon’s pilot six-man football league last year. The Hornets finished the season with a 7-1 record while the Locomotives finished with a 2-5 record. The six-man league held an unofficial bowl-style postseason where teams from Special District 4 and Special District 5 met up to play at Madras High School.
