All submissions need to be typed and include a contact name, address and phone number. Submissions will still be accepted by hand delivery or emailed to email@example.com. Please call (541) 823-4818 to verify transmission was received. On Saturdays, call (541) 823-4806.
Obituary deadline is 5 p.m. the day before publication Tuesday through Friday for emailed submissions. Deadline for hand-delivered or faxed submissions is 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for next day publication. Deadline is 3 p.m. Friday for Sunday publication. No obituaries will be accepted Saturday for Sunday publication.
The cost to place an obituary in the Argus Observer is $7.50 per column inch, plus an additional $40 processing/photo fee*. The cost to place an obituary in the Independent Enterprise is $4.80 per column inch plus an additional $40 processing/photo fee* (unless the processing/photo fee was already paid for the Argus Observer). Obituaries not submitted electronically will be charged an additional $3.50 per column inch.
Obituary charges will be calculated before publication in order to receive payment in advance unless the obituary is being billed directly to a funeral chapel. If an obituary is not being billed directly to a funeral chapel, payment can be made with a credit card, by personal check or cash.
Funeral notices will be charged $45 Flat Rate. There is an additional $30 charge to include a photo.
Deadline for a death notice is 9 a.m. the day of publication Tuesday through Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday for Sunday publication. For death notices, please include age, residence, and date of death information. There is no charge for death notices.
*$40 for the first photo. Additional photos are $30 each.
Birth announcement deadlines are the same as obituaries.
When submitting a birth announcement, please include hospital born at, date of birth, baby’s name, weight, height and sex, and parents’ names and residence.
Grandparents’ names and residences may also be included as well as siblings. There is no cost for birth announcements.
