CANYON COUNTY — Mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus were found near Payette County lines Wednesday night in small pools filled with irrigation water.

Canyon County Mosquito Abatement District responded to a service request at the intersection of Market Road and Hollow Road, near the Payette County line, where tire tracks were collecting irrigation water in a pasture. A temporary trap was set up and nearly 300 acres of land were fogged after finding pools containing mosquito larvae.

A release from Canyon County Mosquito Abatement District said it’s important to prevent any standing water at this time of the year, especially from irrigation practices.
