WEISER — A Weiser woman died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash with a farm implement on Tuesday.

The crash occurred at about 5:59 p.m. on U.S. Highway 95, near milepost 79.5 in Washington County, according to a news release from Idaho State Police.

Police say Ismael Juarez, 48, of Mexico, was heading north on the highway in a John Deere tractor pulling a farm implement. Julie S. Walker, 48, and her passenger June M. Smith, 67, both of Weiser, were also traveling north in a 1995 Volvo sedan, when the car rear-ended the implement. The Volvo came to rest in a field, according to the news release.

The women, who were not wearing seatbelts, were both transported by ambulance. Walker was taken by ground ambulance to Weiser Memorial Hospital and Smith was taken by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Smith later died from her injuries, but police did not indicate what day that was.

According to the release the northbound lanes of the highway were blocked for nearly three hours.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office assisted State Police in the investigation.
