Three things about today - Sept. 5, 2019

Classic cars were still arriving when this photo was taken early in the evening on Aug. 31, 2017 the latest weekly roll-out (or roll-in, actually) of classic car night at the Payette A&W. 

  1. Less than a day remains before the 31st annual A&W Cruise In and Car Show, hosted by Rods of Idaho and Oregon, on Friday and Saturday in Payette. The Friday Night Cruise In will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at A&W Restaurant; the Show & Shine will be Saturday at Kiwanis Park. After the awards show, the Original Rocketeers Rock ‘n Roll will perform from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. for free. Information: Jim Boyer, (208) 631-8894.
  2. Also in less than a day is the grand opening reception for Rural Statements, an art exhibit featuring works of art by Gail Greco, will be from 6 to 8 p.m Sept. 6 in the Harano Galley at Four Rivers Cultural Center. The exhibit, which features Greco’s works of transparent watercolor and mixed water media, will be on display through Oct. 21. The Cultural Center is at 676 S.W.   3. On this day in 2000, Tuvalu, a country with a population of 10,000 located in the west-central Pacific, became the 189th member of the United Nations. Tuvalu is a made up of a group of nine coral islands, according to Britannica.
