  1. Fewer than 24 hours remain until tee time for the 29th annual Chukar Charity Shootout. The fundraiser held at Scotch Pines Golf Course will benefit the Chukar Boosters, who in turn help purchase items for the athletics, according to Rachel Grace at Treasure Valley Community College. Past purchases have included stadium seating for the baseball field, a new tarp for the softball field, uniforms and other big projects, she said. There may not be golf carts for late registrants, Grace said, but those who still need to register, can do so on site at 8 a.m. Saturday.

In the attempt to make the first ascent on the world’s highest mountain on June 4, 1924, George Mallory, an English mountaineer was leading a British Mount Everest expedition, is estimated to have died two days later. His ultimate fate was not discovered until 1999 by climbers. The remains of his climbing partner, Andrew Irvine, who also disappeared with Mallory, have never been discovered.
