Today is National Taco Day and World Smile Day! According to National Day Calendar, both of these days are celebrated today. It’s difficult not to smile when eating tacos, so plan lunch accordingly!

On this day in 2009, the No. 1 movie in the country was “Zombieland.” The comedy starring Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone managed to scare up some laughs to the tune of over $24 million in its opening weekend. Incidentally, the film’s sequel — “Zombieland: Double Tap” opens later this month, nearly 10 years after the original, according to Box Office Mojo.

Also on this day in 1970, music legend Janis Joplin died after succumbing to an accidental heroin overdose. The singer, whose songs included “Me and Bobby McGee” and “Piece of My Heart” was 27 years old when she died, joining a long list of musicians, artists and actors who died at the same age, colloquially known as The 27 Club.
