Voters in Payette County can cast their ballot for the Consolidated Election through 8 p.m. today at local polling places.

  1. Rock the vote! Payette County residents, today is the day to cast your ballots. Voters in the Consolidated Election will decide on a bond for the City of Fruitland, as well as who will be next in line for Fruitland, Payette and New Plymouth city councils, as well as the New Plymouth School Board. Polls are open until 8 p.m. tonight; find out where your local polling place is online at www.payettecounty.org or by calling the Payette County Clerk’s Office at (208) 642-6000.
  2. “Remember, remember the 5th of November.” On this day in 1605, the Gunpowder Plot happened when Roman Catholics led by Robert Catesby tried to blow up the king, his family and all of Parliament. The day is now celebrated with fireworks as “Guy Fawkes Day,” according to Britannica. This portion of history was discussed at length in the 2005 film, “V for Vendetta.”
  3. According to National Day Calendar, today happens to be National Doughnut Day and National Love Your Red Hair Day! Grab a sweet pastry and let those red locks fly!
