The Cottages give back to Pastor Rob Zaklan

Pastor Rob Zaklan, left, accepts a check for $1,000 from Celeste Medina and Angela Davilla, The Cottages administrator. The money will be used to help offset the cost of his relocation to Seattle for medical treatment due to leukemia.

Payette — The Cottages feel it is important to give back to the communities that many of its residents grew up in and supported throughout their lives. That is why they started The Cottages Give Back program. The organization looks within local communities and identifies areas in need.

Recently, The Cottages of Payette had a tamale fundraiser to help raise money for Pastor Rob Zaklan. Zaklan has served at the Bible Baptist Church for 24 years. In March of this year he was diagnosed with myelofibrosis which is a rare type of leukemia. He was recently evaluated at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and was approved as a potential candidate for transplant. This will require relocation to Seattle, and living within 30 minutes of the transplant center for roughly 4 months.

Due to the tamale fundraiser and the support of the surrounding community, The Cottages of Payette was able to present a $1,000 check to Zaklan. This will help aid in his effort of battling leukemia.
