HUNTINGTON — The mayor and three Huntington City Council members are the subject of a recall effort.
According to report published last week by the Baker City Herald, petitions were filed against Mayor Candy Howland and council members Richard Cummings, John McLean and Cindy Deck.
A minimum of 37 signatures of registered city voters are needed on each petition to force a recall election or resignation, the report said. The town has 445 residents, with about 303 registered voters.
Reasons given for the recall include alleged hostile work environment, violation of Oregon’s public meetings, public records and budget laws, the report said.
“If the petitioners gather the required signatures, the subject of recall would have seven days to resign or have the matter go to voters,” the Herald story said.
