VALE — Two parents were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly providing marijuana to minors, a Class C felony.

According to Malheur County Sheriff Brian Wolfe, the sheriff’s office received a call from the Department of Human Services to investigate adult parents giving marijuana to teenagers.

Deputies responded to Birch Road, about a mile and a-half west of Vale, where Jaushawa J. Brown, 41, and Terralynne Dumas, 33, were living out of a camp trailer and a tent with five children age 14 and younger, Wolfe said.

The oldest of those children, two 14-year-old girls, were reportedly the ones who had been given the marijuana.

The adults were arrested, and DHS took custody of all five children.

Brown and Dumas are currently lodged in the Malheur County Jail and are slated to see a judge today, according to Wolfe.
