The Payette High School Band’s annual potato feed fundraiser will be held Saturday, Feb. 8 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at the R&L Event Center at 633 Second Ave. S. in Payette.
Band Director Eric Held says that while the district is chipping in for new uniforms for the school marching band, the rest of the cost is his lookout.
“The Payette School Board Financial Committee budgeted $30,000 for uniforms this year. The total cost we are looking at for 80 uniforms is $44,000.”
While the bands have been able to make do with their current uniforms, Held said they are showing their age nonetheless.
“Our current band jackets were purchased in 2004. The pants appear to be used when they were purchased because some of them go back to 1997.”
Live music will be performed by the Payette High Jazz Band, and a raffle will take place. There will also be a silent auction and desserts by donation. Tickets are available in advance from a band member for $5, or at the door for $6.
