JOSEPHINE COUNTY — A medical examiner for Oregon State Police has identified a person found in a truck in the river as a man who had been reported missing in November of 2017. A cause of death has not been released.
Richard Hillman’s body was found in the cab of his Toyota pickup by a citizen who “flagged down a Josephine County Deputy and told him he discovered a truck in the river near the Argo Boat Ramp,” according to a news release from State Police.
Hillman was last seen in Josephine County leaving a party at a friend’s house in his pickup the day before Thanksgiving in 2017 at gathering at friend’s house.
Police had previously stated that his residence was within 5 miles of the gathering, but did not say at this time how far away the boat ramp was from the party or his home. However, according to police, investigators had believed Hillmann was the victim of foul play by person(s) known to him.
State Police adopted the case in March of 2018.
