PAYETTE — A hospital spokesman says a 37-year-old Ontario woman is in critical condition, following a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 84 early Sunday morning.
According to a news release from Idaho State Police, the crash happened at about 4:14 a.m. Sunday at milepost 15 in the eastbound lanes of I-84, east of Payette. It involved a passenger car and two commercial vehicles.
Police say Stacy Martinez, of Ontario, was driving east on the interstate in a 1994 Buick Park Avenue when she lost control and struck the jersey barrier. Her vehicle was then struck by two commercial vehicles.
Andrew Gaudlip, 54, of Meridian, was driving a 2017 Freightliner commercial vehicle pulling a box trailer. Zhao Hui, 47, of Chino, California, was driving a 2016 Volvo commercial vehicle pulling a tanker trailer. Both commercial drivers were wearing seatbelts, as well as a passenger in Hui’s vehicle.
Martinez, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was taken via ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
Police say the eastbound lanes of the interstate were blocked for about three hours.
