HUNTINGTON — Spring Rec Campground has reopened to the public after being closed temporarily to provide a base of operations for fire personnel to combat the lightning-caused Pole Fire near Huntington.
According to a news release from the Bureau of Land Management - Vale District, the day use area remains open. However, the boat dock is out of service, as it was removed in May when it was determined to be unsafe and irreparable.
Planning and permitting are underway to replace the dock and the concrete planking of the ramp as early as spring 2020. In the meantime, users should know there is no place to tie off and they boats will have to be removed after each use.
The public recreation site is located on the Snake River and is managed by the Baker Field Office of Vale BLM.
