ONTARIO — Work started Friday night on permanent murals on the exterior walls of two businesses — the Vintage Rose and Aarestad Physical Therapy in downtown Ontario. The art installations are a gift from Jeremy Archie, who has plans to open a recreational marijuana dispensary, Treasure Valley Cannabis Company, here in the future.
His dispensary won't be open for a while yet, but in the meantime, Archie and his colleagues wanted to spur forth more public art in the community.
As such, the murals being painted are part of the Eastern Oregon Mural Festival, which will feature live painting, live screen-printing of T-shirts, live glassblowing and more.
The event is from noon to 7 p.m. today at Moore Park on the corner of South Oregon Street and Southwest First Avenue.
