Grocery store will get new spot, building

Mark Ridley, director of operations, announced that a new location has been selected where a new store will be built. It has been housed in a temporary, smaller location since about two weeks after the collapse.

WEISER — After more than two years of working out of a temporary location, Ridley’s Family Market in Weiser has been in its new building for a little more than a week, with more space and offering more products.

The new store, located along East Sixth Street, just south of Bi-Mart, takes in 58,000 square feet, compared to 37,000 for the original store, Mark Ridley, of Ridley’s Family Markets based in Twin Falls, said in an email.

Weiser’s only full-service grocery store was closed in January 2017 when its roof collapsed under the weight of heavy snow and an inside wall began leaning heavily. Company officials were able to find a temporary home at the former King’s Department store when Weiser Memorial Hospital delayed using the building.

The larger size of the current store allows Ridley’s to offer a larger variety of items and more of them, Ridley said.

“We are employing about fifty percent more employees than we did at the original location and roughly twice as many employees as we did at the temporary location.
