NEW PLYMOUTH — Food is a hot commodity during all times of the year, but it’s the holiday season that serves as an opportunity for organizations to give employees an extra ‘thank you’ for all their hard work throughout the year.

The city of New Plymouth has made it an annual tradition to thank employees of the city, planning and zoning and members of the library board with a holiday ham or turkey.

Marianne Gatchell, a first-year employee of New Plymouth City Hall, said how pleased she was when she first heard about this program and that she had not previously worked anywhere that made such a nice gesture for the holidays.

Vouchers will be presented to employees to be redeemed at DJ’s Pilgrim Market in New Plymouth, entitling them to either a turkey or ham of their choice.
