WESTERN TREASURE VALLEY — Malheur County’s burn ban is still in effect until Oct. 1, according to Ontario Fire Chief Terry Leighton.
“The temperatures are supposed to come up in the next few days,” the chief said, so he wants to keep it in place through the end of the month.
However, in Payette County, officials lifted the burn ban on Tuesday. As with Malheur County’s burn ban, Payette County’s ban was initially set until Oct. 1. However, changing conditions caused county officials to lift the ban sooner than expected.
