ONTARIO — Two local businesses were lauded on Sunday for being supportive of employees who are in the U.S. Army National Guard and Reserve.
A presentation was held at the National Guard Armory and Recruiting Office for D&B supply and Americold Logistics. Each received a Patriot Award, which was presented by members of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
Jack Johnson, chairman of Area 6, Oregon Committee of the ESGR, gave the presentation. Accepting the awards on behalf of the businesses were Anne-Marie Duckworth, from D&B Supply, and Dave Herrera, from Americold Logistics.
According to a news release from Johnson, E-5 Sgts. Bronson Gray and David Rangel nominated D&B Supply and Americold Logistics, respectively.
Johnson told those attending the presentation that it is “extremely rare” to have two different businesses receiving the same award.
The Patriot Award is given to businesses that “go above and beyond” in “arranging the work schedules” of those serving in the National Guard and Reserve so that they are able to work and serve.
The ESGR was founded in 1972 with the mission “to work with reservists and employers to resolve employment issues” and its parent department is the United States Department of Defense.
