Both Payette baseball and softball ran into the brick wall that is Homedale on Monday in both teams’ return to league play after spring break.
After splitting their doubleheader with 2A powerhouse Melba, the Payette softball team couldn’t get any momentum in a 12-2 five-inning loss against the reigning 3A state champion Trojans.
Malybu Gantz had one hit and one RBI for the Pirates. Aeverie Burns had one hit.
Alyssa Kauffman pitched all five innings for the Pirates, allowing 11 hits and walking two.
The Pirates are 6-4 and 1-1 in the SRV, which keeps them in second place in the league.
The Payette baseball team wasn’t able to get much offense going against the 2018 state runner-up Trojans in a 9-1 loss. Stats for the game were not available by press time.
The Pirates are sitting with a 4-8 record and are 1-1 in the SRV, currently at third place.
