Duane Lowell Coffey Sr.

Duane Lowell Coffey Sr., 84, passed away Sunday, July 22nd, 2019 at his home in Kaiser, Oregon. Duane was born August 26, 1934 to Lowell and Emma (Loibl) Coffey in Lexington, Nebraska, the middle child of three children. He graduated from Payette High School in Payette Idaho in 1952.

Duane served in the U.S. military for 40 years as both an active duty linguist and a full time National Guard soldier retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 . He met and married his high school sweetheart Myrna J Creswell after high school graduation. Duane and Myrna had three boys and a happy life in the military until Myrna died tragically from Cancer in 1976. Duane remarried Barbara Jean (Bobby) Smith and they lived in Boise until tragedy struck again and Bobbie died of Cancer. Duane was remarried again to Melody Brock and they remained married until Duane’s passing.

In 1955, Duane began his lifetime in the military as a Russian linguist in Ft Bragg North Carolina. After Leaving the active duty Duane began a long and challenging career with the Idaho National Guard. Duane started as an enlisted administrative supply technician and ended his career as a personnel Chief Warrant Officer in 1994. Apart from his military duties, Duane enjoyed camping fishing and traveling to the coast. Duane enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and the animals on his small farm in New Plymouth Idaho.

Duane is survived by his wife, Melody (Brock) Coffey; sons , Duane Lowell Coffey Jr., Ronald William Coffey and Jerold (Jerry) Marion Coffey; his two sisters Mona Darlene Coffey-Griffin and Shirley Ann Coffey-Farley. Duane was blessed with six grandchildren and nine great grand children along with numerous nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his parents.

Duane was a quiet man and true to form, his wishes of no viewing or Funeral services will be honored. Duane’s ashes will be spread by his closest family members soon.
