Residents of a mobile home in Payette were likely recent victims of two separate arsons.
The most recent minor blaze was apparently set on the front steps of the home on Aug. 8 is being investigated by the Idaho State Fire Marshal as possible arson.
Payette Police Chief John Plaza said firefighters were called out at 2:30 p.m. to a mobile home park at 1300 N. Ninth, No. 47.
Very quick response by the fire department limited the damage to the front steps of the home. There was no one home at the time and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, Plaza said.
Plaza confirmed that about four weeks ago, a car was set on fire at the same address. It was a total loss, and was also determined to be arson by the State Fire Marshal.
When asked whether there were any suspects, Plaza said they had some “potential avenues, but no real leads yet.”
Additionally, the chief said on Monday that it appears the residents of that mobile home have moved.
