Horizon Home Health and Hospice celebrated the ribbon cutting of its new Fruitland location on Oct. 3.
Previous operating as Lighthouse Home Health before becoming Horizon in 2010, the organization has served the Treasure Valley for two decades.
According to Horizon spokeswoman Michelle Merrick, Horizon is unique in offering multiple services.
“Some of the other organizations do just home health or just hospice or just personal care services, but we do all, so what’s kind of neat about us is that people will oftentimes need Home Health Services maybe after a major surgery after a hospitalization need to get back up on their feet for maybe, you know, 30 or 60 days, and just short-term periods maybe they just need a little bit of rehab or some nursing care, but then we may also find that maybe they need to transition to hospice care. And what’s really neat is they don’t have to have another organization, they already know the nurses, they already know the staff, and they can make that transition bridge if you will to hospice care without having to get to know new people.”
Merrick says the decision to move to Fruitland came from a need to be more centrally available to those they serve.
“We loved it over in Weiser, it’s a great community and we had developed really neat relationships over there. And the lease was coming up on our office and what we found was our main office is in Meridian, And it was really just location.”
Horizon’s new office is at 314 S.W. Third Avenue in Fruitland.
