PAYETTE — Even though a new Trustee has been declared elected to the Payette School District Board of Trustees, with Barbara Wilson beginning her term in Zone 5 this January, and Andy Kirkendall ran unopposed for reelection to Zone 3, there remains an opening on the board yet to be filled. No candidates ran for election in Zone 1, southwest Payette.

Ethan Mittelstadt, who presently represents Zone 1, chose to not run for reelection, according to Board Clerk Barbara Choate in an email Tuesday. As such, the board declared the vacancy during its regular meeting on Nov. 8. Trustee Terrie Cathcart-Shurte moved to declare the vacancy and make the seat available for qualified applicants, seconded by Trustee Adam Rynearson. This motion carried unanimously.

“The board will review applications and appoint someone, hopefully in January so we have a full board,” wrote Choate.

Individuals living within Zone 1 boundaries and are registered voters may submit an application at the Payette School District Office, 20 N. 12th St., between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
