A new event celebrating local and regional beer, Idaho’s Wild West Brewfest, will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at Indian Creek Plaza in downtown Caldwell. The event is open to the public and those interested in sampling beers from a selection of over 30 craft beers can purchase a mug and 15 tasting tickets for $30.

“What makes this brewfest unique is the entertainment we have procured around the western theme,” said Lynn Calvin, Indian Creek Plaza Director. “We wanted to recreate the atmosphere of an old western melodrama with a little bit of a twist. While we’ll have blacksmithing, gold panning and Dutch oven cooking demonstrations, there will also be vaudeville acts such as can-can dancers, stilt walkers, and circus performers all dressed in western costumes.”

Performers include a can-can line from Weiser’s Illustrious Onion Skin Players theatre company, and a variety of acts from Boise Circus Guild, professional and hobbyist circus artists, that will take place throughout the day.

The festival will also feature live music from local country artists on the Idaho Central Credit Union Stage. The lineup features Buddy Devore and the Faded Cowboys at 12 p.m., The Country Club at 2 p.m. and the Neckid Rednecks at 4 p.m.

Event organizers have partnered with local Caldwell business to create unique experiences inspired by the wild west. A whiskey tasting experience, hosted by downtown bar Roots and Co. will take place at 1 p.m. in a faux saloon created near the plaza. Tickets for the tasting experience are $20 and can be purchased on site the day of the event. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic root beer floats, featuring frozen yogurt from the newly opened Good Spoon yogurt and gelato shop, will be available for purchase.

A majority of the beer that will be poured has been donated by breweries and all proceeds from the brewfest will benefit Destination Caldwell, the organization that manages and programs Indian Creek Plaza with events and activities year-round, a majority which are free and open to the public.
