Taxing districts in Payette County realized a total of approximately $175,000 in property tax payments from Alta Mesa in 2018, and there was an additional $75,000, approximately, in severance taxes, said Payette County Commissioner Marc Shigeta, who is also vice-chairman of the state’s Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.
Mick Thomas, administrator for the Oil and Gas Division of the Idaho Department of Lands, offered some recent statewide figures for oil and gas leasing and severance tax.
According to Thomas, in fiscal year 2018 the state took in $207,219 in tax revenue, $23,675 in royalty payments, $17,840 in regulatory fees, and $26,431 in leasing, rent and fees. The total for FY ’18 was $275,185.
Looking back over the past three years, Thomas said, “We had a big year in twenty-seventeen. Twenty-eighteen, not a big year, and twenty-nineteen so far is trending up month to month when I project our severance revenue.”
