Payette schools issued a lockdown order the afternoon of Nov. 18 following information about a student with a gun.
Payette Police Chief John Plaza said in an email on Nov. 19 that the lockdown was just a precautionary measure with no threat to schools.
The chief says a Payette High School student was reported to have a gun and left Ontario. The student in question, however, did not go to the school and was later found by his probation officer.
According to Plaza, the student did have a gun, however, “no threats were made to do anything,” and the matter is still under investigation.
