‘Bubblemania,’ Early Childhood STEM, workshop a delight

Payette WICAP Head Start Teacher and Bubble Master Christopher Butler has a student help him with demonstrating his bubble-making skills during a recent workshop on science, technology, engineering and math.

Payette WICAP Head Start Teacher and Bubble Master Christopher Butler captivated 3- to 6-year-olds, their families, teachers and day care providers with his fantastic bubble performance at an Early Childhood STEM workshop held recently at the Payette WICAP Head Start.

Chris used his bubble-making skills to create bubbles of all shapes, sizes and colors, all enhanced by music and light. He talked about the science of bubbles, and created bubbles within bubbles, bubbles filled with dissipating steam, bubbles that broke into several smaller ones, bubbles large enough to fit a child inside, and much more.

His presentation was followed by bubble stations where children and adults had fun playing with bubbles including: experimenting with catching bubbles, making bubble domes, bubble art, and bubbles of different shapes. Participants were treated to Subway sandwiches, and received bubble information from Chris, the book, “How to Make Bubbles,” and bubble gloves. It was a “bubbleblast” and all enjoyed a bubble magical time.

This third Early Childhood STEM Workshop was sponsored by the Payette School District, 21st CCLC Kindergarten, Payette WICAP Head Start, and the Idaho STEM Action Center.
