Area musicians, dancers win Talent Show prizes

Gem State Cloggers Element won the Apple Blossom Talent Show’s grand prize with their performance of “Dance Now.”

The Annual Apple Blossom Talent Show was held May 14 at the Payette High School Auditorium, where 15 talented groups and soloists hit the stage to share their talents.

Three talented performers participated in the Youth Division with the “Bad Girls Dance Trio” taking first place with their performance of the dance number “Bad Guy”.

First place winner in the Adult Division was Debbie Wolfe, Vale, for her piano performance of Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag.”

Two young pianists from Fruitland tied for second place with performing piano numbers. Eli Nestor played an original composition, and Kimball Black played “Piano Man” with the addition of his own voice and his harmonica.

A Grand Prize choice was awarded to the Gem State Cloggers Element for their amazing rendition of “Dance Now.”

Judges for the event were Gwen Cook, Lynnora Gross, Kevin Jensen, Kate Larson, Kay Lyman and Iran Trenkel. Chairpersons were Jackie Grigg and Sue Greif.

Master of Ceremonies was Don Olson, and John Lehmkuhl manned the sound booth.

Payette Friday Musicale co-produces this event with the help of the Payette Chamber of Commerce during the Apple Blossom Festival Week each year. Funds raised from ticket sales and entry fees add to the Musicale’s funds for sponsoring the Spring Festival for all musicians as well as the April Music Scholarship Auditions.
