The Payette Senior Center serves home delivered meals in the greater Payette-Fruitland area (Fruitland does not currently have a Senior Center).
From Oct. 1, 2018, until Oct. 31, the kitchen provided 12,719 meals to homebound seniors.
The meals are prepared by Deb Loignon and Kim Turvey. Jose Cardona then delivers the meals to each individual.
This program does not only provide a meal to a senior in need but also serves as a welfare check, as the driver visits with these people and gets to know their habits. If something is not quite right, we have a contact person to alert and/or call for medical assistance if necessary.
The cost of each of these meals is approximately $10. The Senior Center receives $4.50 of that amount from Area 3 Senior Services, and raises the other $5.50.
As such, Kathy Patrick, executive director reminds that community contributions are welcome toward the program.
For more information, call the Senior Center at (208) 642-4223.
