The Payette Primary School looked like a construction site recently as kindergartners were recently treated to a visit by the Payette City Street and Parks Department.
The visit was in conjunction with two units of study in kindergarten: community workers and simple machines.
Students met each member of the city crew and learned how their jobs positively impact our community. City employees explained some of the many construction jobs they perform in our city, along with routine services they provide that make Payette a safe, clean and beautiful place to live.
After discovering how simple machines work, the kindergartners were able to see some of the big machines, street equipment, the crew uses to do their jobs. The kindergartners climbed into the street vehicles and imagined what it would be like to drive a front-end loader, lawnmower, sand truck with a plow, street sweeper, road grader and backhoe.
