The Payette School District Board of Trustees took time out of their Dec. 9 meeting to watch members of the choir from Payette High School perform holiday music for the standing-room only crowd.
Instructor Mark Murdoch said his students did this to show the board what their program is made of.
“The purpose of this performance was to show the school board that the vocal music class is a great thing to offer the students of Payette,” said Murdoch via email. “Performing music in social contexts with appropriate music, etc. is a national standard. It is good for the school board to know this, too.”
The choir’s evening performance served as a warmup for their 2020 lineup. Murdock pointed out the Pirate choir is planning to perform at the University of Idaho, Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in February.
