Heart ‘n Home award

FRUITLAND — A Fruitland business was recently handed “the most prestigious” award handed out by the Better Business Bureau among 300 business and charities that were nominated throughout the BBB’s Northwest and Pacific region.

This year’s Torch Award for Ethics in business went to Heart n Home Hospice in Fruitland; in the charities division the award went to the Boise Rescue Mission.

Among the hundreds of applicants, 60 finalists were selected, according to information sent from the BBB. 

The Torch Award is presented annually “to exceptional organizations for their dedication to integrity and ethical business practices” … and it “symbolizes the highest level of trust in the marketplace.”

“We are so honored to announce the Torch Award winners for 2019,” said BBB NW+P CEO Tyler Andrew, in a news release. “These businesses truly deserve the spotlight for their dedication to these values.”

According to the release, each applicant is reviewed by independent, voluntary panels of judges which comprises community leaders. 

Heart n’ Home Hospice provides in-home hospice care for those who are nearing the end of their days.

“The company prides itself on their staff’s caregiving and ability to work well with patients and their families,” reads the release. The company aims to “be recognized as the school of hospice, promoting excellence in end of life care.”

Owners Kristopher and Todd Stice were presented the award by the BBB during an all-staff meeting on Sept. 18, with nearly 200 employees tuning into the celebration.

“When evaluating Heart ‘n Home Hospice’s application one thing was apparent, they hold high value on integrity, doing what’s right — even when no one is looking,” reads the release. “They also go above and beyond with their staff, clients and community.”

The BBB Standards for Trust are eight principles that summarize important elements of creating trust in the marketplace. It is a set of best practices that enhance customer trust and serves as the basis for the BBB Accreditation. The eight principles are as follows: Build Trust, Advertise Honestly, Tell the Truth, Be Transparent, Honor Promises, Be Responsive, Safeguard Privacy, and Embody Integrity.
