3 things to know about today

Summer reading programs kick of in Ontario and Payette this week.

  1. By the time you are reading this, there will be less than 24 hours until this year’s summer reading program begins at Ontario Community Library and less than 48 hours until Payette Public Library starts its program. Ontario’s program will run June 5 to July 4, and sign up can be done at the library, 388 S.W. Second Ave; Payette’s program will run June 6 to July 18, and sign up can be done at the library, 24 S. 10th St.
  2. The 2019 Oregon legislative session began 133 days ago today, marking the 19th week of decision-making for members of the Legislature. The session, which began Jan. 22 is slated to wrap up on June 30. The last time the session extended beyond 160 days was in 1999, when it lasted into July.
  3. Speaking of the Legislature, there will be an update on this year’s session given during the Legislative Hotline from 7 to 8 a.m. Wednesday. The session is broadcast on video from Salem to OSU Extension Service offices throughout the region, including the one at 710 S.W. Fifth Ave., in Ontario.
