UPDATE: 4:52 p.m.: Local law enforcement authorities have confirmed the suspect is now in custody, having been located near Malheur Reservoir by Oregon State Police.
UPDATE: 4:11 p.m. Baker County Sheriff's Office says the shooting victim was a man, who was taken to an area hospital to be treated.
In addition to the major crime team, the Sheriff's Office is receiving assistance from Baker City Police Department, Oregon State Police and the Bureau of Land Management.
UPDATE: 2:19 p.m.: The suspect is believed to be driving a 1990s Toyota pickup that is gray in color and has Oregon plates. He is believed to be armed.
MALHEUR COUNTY — An attempt-to-locate has been issued to law enforcement personnel throughout Malheur County regarding the suspect of a shooting in Baker City that occurred within the last few hours.
According to the ATL, the suspect's last known address is in the Vale area and may be heading this way.
Baker County Sheriff’s Office, in a news release this afternoon said dispatch received a report of “a gunshot victim” at about 11:45 a.m. today (12:45 p.m. local time).
“At this time, there is no immediate danger to the public, and schools have not been placed on lockdown,” states to the release. “The Major Crime Team is currently investigating this incident.”
An article in the Baker City Herald states that the incident occurred west of the BLM Field Office in Baker City, which is in the 3100 block of H Street.
According to Larisa Bogardus, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Land Management Vale District, the Baker Field Office is on lockdown while police search the area.
“No BLMers were injured or are involved in the incident,” she wrote in an email.
The field office is in the 3100 block of H Street in city limits.
