ONTARIO — A two-vehicle collision Wednesday night about 5 miles outside of Ontario resulted in the death of a 41-year-old woman from Ontario.
According to a news release from Oregon State Police, troopers responded to the crash at about 6:19 p.m. on Oregon Hwy 201N, near milepost 21.
According to preliminary investigation, police say a Pontiac Sunfire, operated by Roberta Chandler of Ontario, was southbound on the highway when, for unknown reasons, it drifted into the northbound lane, colliding with a northbound Chevy Impala. The Impala was driven by Sergio Sandoval, 58, of Weiser.
Chandler died at the scene of the accident as a result of her injuries. Her passenger, Tira Zacarias, 29, of New Plymouth, was taken via LifeFlight to a Boise hospital.
Sandoval and his passenger, Marina Navarette-Hernandez, 57, also of Weiser, were taken to the hospital by ground ambulance.
Agencies assisting OSP, included Treasure Valley Paramedics, Ontario Fire and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
According to ODOT the highway was closed for about two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
