UPDATE 7:19 a.m. Jan. 15:
The westbound lanes from Ontario to Pendleton were reopen at 9 p.m. Tuesday after being closed for several hours.
ONTARIO — Commercial vehicles heading west on Interstate 84 won’t be able to get past Ontario for the time being, due to multiple truck crashes between Baker City and Pendleton.
According to an alert from Oregon Department of Transportation, the agency has closed the westbound lanes between Baker City at exit 302 and exit 216, east of Pendleton.
Several spun out trucks are blocking the westbound lanes between mileposts 251 and 246.
Medics are on scene, according to the news release.
The closure was extended from La Grande to Baker City due to no more truck parking space in La Grande.
However, as Baker City truck parking is rapidly filling up, ODOT has made the decision to stop commercial vehicle travel west of Ontario at this time.
“All WB trucks will need to exit at Exit 374 in Ontario or sooner and find a safe place to park,” reads the release. “Travelers are advised to wait until the WB lanes are open.”
Eastbound lanes are open at this time; however travelers are urged to keep checking for updated conditions online at TripCheck.com or by calling 511 or (800) 977-6368.
