PAYETTE — A 77-year-old Payette man was taken by air ambulance to a Boise hospital on Thursday afternoon after his gun discharged and a bullet struck him in the leg. His condition is unknown at this time
According to an email from Payette County Sheriff’s Lt. Andy Creech, at about 2:20 p.m., dispatch received a call about a man with a gunshot wound.
Deputies along with Payette Fire Rescue Unit and Payette County Paramedics responded to the scene, according to Creech.
A deputy who arrived on scene first applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg to control the bleeding until medical personnel arrived and took over.
