NEW PLYMOUTH — Idaho State Police is investigating multiple crashes in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84, at milepost 12, near New Plymouth.
The eastbound lanes are blocked and traffic was reported to be backed up for several miles for a couple of hours early this morning.
State Police said lanes were blocked until about 9:08 a.m.
According to an email from Payette County Sheriff’s Lt. Andy Creech, a car hit a bull elk and was disabled in the lane of travel.
“It was involved in some additional collisions,” he wrote. “We had at least two secondary collisions.”
In addition to State Police, Payette Countyresponded to the scene; however state police is conducting the investigation into all of the collisions that occurred.
