WEISER — Idaho State Police are investigating an injury accident from Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 95 south of Weiser.

According to reports from ISP, AJ Chaney, 22, of Payette, was northbound on U.S. 95 shortly after 10 a.m. when he attempted to pass a SUV and 1994 Peterbilt pulling two empty flatbed trailers.

The report said Chaney, driving a 1993 Ford Ranger pickup, noticed the truck swinging wide to make a right-hand turn, and Chaney attempted to pull back into the northbound lane. At that point, police said, he lost control of the vehicle and slid into the commercial vehicle, driven by Bryan Larrea, 49, of Caldwell, between the tractor and the first trailer.

Chaney and his passenger, 15-year-old Katherine Chaney, of Fruitland, were transported to Weiser Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. The northbound lane of U.S. 95 was blocked for approximately three hours while troopers investigated the crash.
