VALE — One person was killed and a commercial truck driver received minor injuries Sunday evening in a fatal traffic crash along Highway 20 east of Vale in Malheur County. Oregon State Police troopers from the Ontario Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor on part of the deceased driver.
A 1998 Pontiac four-door driven by Teodoro Cruz Ramirez, 41, of Vale, was eastbound on Highway 20 near milepost 255 when it crossed into the westbound lane around 7:40 p.m. Sunday, according to OSP Lt. Mark Duncan. The Pontiac collided head-on with a 2006 International truck pulling a semi-trailer driven by Sergey S. Levko, 31, from Woodburn.
