Caldwell
Marvin Charles Miller, 85, Caldwell, died peacefully at his home with his family at his bedside, Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010. He was born in Imperial, Neb., Aug. 4, 1924, to Charles and Lillie Miller. He attended schools in Nebraska and Idaho and joined the U.S. Navy in 1944. He married the love of his life, Shirley Mae Martin, July 21, 1947, in Vale. He attended Northwest Nazarene College and was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene. He pastored churches many years in the valley and in Elgin, Ore. He also pastored two churches for the Bible Missionary Church, and retired from the ministry in 1989. His wife, Shirley, was an asset and support to his ministry, as a musician, and teacher. Marvin’s favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing and flying single engine airplanes and restoring Model T Ford cars.
Marvin dearly loved his family, and cherished the visits of his children and grandchildren at his bedside during his long illness. He had a sense of humor throughout his life. His spirit became more loving and kind during his illness and he never complained about his confinement.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley; three children, Marilyn Yee, of Boise, Marvin (Angie), of Nampa, Carolyn (Thomas) Travis, of Vancouver, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a long time close friend of the family, Grant Yee, of Boise. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orval Lee Miller, of Orting, Wash.; and two grandchildren, infant Andrea Lin Yee, and Brian Chandler.
The family wishes to thank all of the wonderful care givers and chaplain of Legacy Hospice who gave such loving care and a special thanks to Brian Meyers and Cindy Staggs who attended him regularly. We wish also to extend our appreciation to the faithful friends and relatives that regularly visited during his long illness.
Marvin was a man that walked with God. He passionately shared his faith with congregations and individuals. He was also a man of prayer. As the statement of Apostle Paul says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith,” would apply to Marvin’s consistent unwavering walk with God.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at The Canyon Hill Church of the Nazarene, 903 N. Michigan Ave. in Caldwell. Internment with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery Committal Shelter, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road in Boise.
