Former deputy charged in DUI

PAYETTE — A former Payette County Sheriff’s Deputy has been arrested a second time for driving under the influence in a three-month period.

Troy Sallee, a 12-year veteran with the Payette County Sheriff’s Office, was originally arrested Oct. 1 for misdemeanor DUI. Sallee resigned from his position with PCSO following the arrest. He pleaded guilty to the charge Dec. 21.

One day later, Sallee was arrested again for DUI after allegedly causing an accident at the intersection of Northwest 16th Street and Allens Avenue in Fruitland. Reports indicate Sallee failed to yield at a red light at the traffic signal at the intersection. The crash sent Crystal Yokom, Payette, to the hospital with extensive injuries.

Yokom’s daughter, who was also in the car at the time of the crash, suffered from cuts and bruises. Yokom suffered a broken ankle, broken ribs and cuts and bruises and remains in an Ontario hospital.

Sallee is currently lodged in the Payette County Jail on $100,000 bond.Payette County Prosecutor Anne Marie Kelso said this time around, Sallee will be facing felony charges, rather than misdemeanor DUI.

“In this case, when you cause great bodily injury while driving under the influence, it automatically becomes a felony,” Kelso said.

Sallee is scheduled to be in court Jan. 5 on the felony DUI charge.

" Yeah yeah yeah, bla bla bla....stomp on that soap box, ah gee you're so smart and made us feel so bad for not seeing things your way. I'll go light a candle, give a dollar to a bum and swear my life to celibacy. See now I'm smarter than you.....well I might cheat at that celibacy thing, but I'm still smarter than you. "

Good. "

" Thank you to the reader who has suggested that supporting victims is the real need and focus at this time. Its easy and petty for the anonymous to post petty lies about the perpetrator, maybe because they did a little time themselves? (BTW, Mr. Sallee was convicted of his first DUI, and he has been charged with a pretty nasty felony for this one). What is challenging is rallying for the victims and assisting them through this very difficult period. Lets pull together for the Yokom's and keep the pettiness to ourselves "

" You know, instead of all of you eviscerating Troy Sallee, your time would be much better spent contemplating what could be done for the Yokom Family. Salee will be held accountable, there's no doubt about that, but I'm more concerned at this point for the family that has been traumatized as a result of this. The victim, Crystal Yokom, has suffered a great deal, she spent 11 days in the hospital the first go round, came home for a few days, then back again for surgery to repair the damage to her shattered foot. I'm sure that you could contact the Argus and say that you'd like to make a contribution or do some type of service for this family. They no longer have a car. Work time has been lost. I'm sure that Troy Sallee doesn't have any money or insurance. Redirect your anger, make it worth something, help fix the problem. They could use your kindness. I'm tired of hearing all about what a crumb Sallee is, how about hearing something about the victims. "

" troy happens to be a great person, we all have our share of problems, but his just happens to be more public than others, why don't you post all of the mistakes you've made and see what people have to say about you!! And by the way the badges aren't tin and he's a grown man..judge not!! "

" oky, he is done for...He will get his day in court and he will most like serve in the same facility that he was the commander. Unfortunately, HE, and I say he strongly, chose do behave the way he did....HE does not represent the rest of law enforcement and it is sad that he has left such a blemish in this community. Others that are behaving badly will soon be found out, but for now, don't lump sum all because of the one. As for the young ones waiting in line...shiver in your boots, the pool of candidates is slim and those who do qualify have some pretty big skeltons in their closets already....must be that large pay check that attracts those who have kept their noses clean....oh that's right, most of them leave, get jobs that can pay back their student loans, raise a family and drive more than a beater car....so what can you expect...we have what we paid for....you want quality...pay for it. "

" To "In The Know"
You sound like you have a beef with these young kids with tin badges. I might inform you that most of these young kids are 29 or older. As for the turnover rate, Jail is a stepping stone to get into patrol and there are also the tools that get weeded out. But what place of work doesn't go through that? I am sure you might be happy making me a burger the rest of your life but for others, they might want to move up in the ranks.

It is too bad that Troy did this. He knew what he was doing and he will be punished. Let the event run its course. Bad enough with hypocrites blogging about it when they are all guilty of the same thing or even more. "

I hope they lock him up for a good amount of time. Troy is OBVIOUSLY a danger to everyone around him.

It's always the boozers that drive around intoxicated and hurt people. Makes me sick. "
