PAYETTE — A former Payette County Sheriff’s Deputy has been arrested a second time for driving under the influence in a three-month period.
Troy Sallee, a 12-year veteran with the Payette County Sheriff’s Office, was originally arrested Oct. 1 for misdemeanor DUI. Sallee resigned from his position with PCSO following the arrest. He pleaded guilty to the charge Dec. 21.
One day later, Sallee was arrested again for DUI after allegedly causing an accident at the intersection of Northwest 16th Street and Allens Avenue in Fruitland. Reports indicate Sallee failed to yield at a red light at the traffic signal at the intersection. The crash sent Crystal Yokom, Payette, to the hospital with extensive injuries.
Yokom’s daughter, who was also in the car at the time of the crash, suffered from cuts and bruises. Yokom suffered a broken ankle, broken ribs and cuts and bruises and remains in an Ontario hospital.
Sallee is currently lodged in the Payette County Jail on $100,000 bond.Payette County Prosecutor Anne Marie Kelso said this time around, Sallee will be facing felony charges, rather than misdemeanor DUI.
“In this case, when you cause great bodily injury while driving under the influence, it automatically becomes a felony,” Kelso said.
Sallee is scheduled to be in court Jan. 5 on the felony DUI charge.
